2001 46re
Before I start cross referencing the FSM between years... Does anyone know off the top of their head if an 01 46RE will work fine in a 98? I actually got an 01 PCM in it... Everything works save having to jam off the gas to get from 2nd to 3rd and slightly higher shift points... Thanks guys
From the wife's 2001 5.2 build sheet......I'd say yes
DGT 4-Spd. Automatic 46RE Transmission here's the 5.2 2001 build sheet copy/paste. Hers
DGTS 4-Spd. Automatic 46RE Transmission here's the 5.9 98 build sheet copy/paste. Mine

Hm, so just unscrew and swap then plug up? I messed around with the TV cable and when its connected it wont shift out of 2nd till you let off, but with it unplugged it wont shift into second completely unless you manually do it. It literally skips that gear with the TV unplugged.

Do you have everything plugged up now?

sounds to me you should check/replace the little spring on the "transmission side" lever. that little spring can make some weird things happen. trust me... its just a $4 spring. they tend to stretch out over time. That or maybe someone didn't install it correctly if there has been work done down there.
Are you sure you have the TV cable adjustment correct? make sure the "transmission side" lever is at idle position before making the adjustment.
Thanks guys ill take a better look at that cable and put a new spring in. Gunna stop by today to pick up the correct connector at the shop. Im praying that its just the connector they changed and not the way it relays into the computer...

Hhhmmm...... According to theory, the wiring changed in 00. However, looking at wiring diagrams for 96 (which will be the same as 98) and 01, all wires are pinned the same on both ends. Did just the connector change???
^ I dunno. I thought there was a slight change, when I ordered the new governor solenoid there's different models, I think ones specifically for 00/01, and 99 down to whatever year... I actually ordered the wrong year part and had to send it back for the right one.
Maybe the plug is the same but something different about the actual sensor...?
