Hauled some wood yesterday and broke a shock. Recommendations?

Gas magnums. The yellow ones.

I have Monroe senstaracs and they're ok. I wish I had gone with something a little more heavy duty now that my truck is a 2500 but that's Beside the point.

 

Yeah, I bought the cheapo ones unfortunately at O'Reily's. What's your recommended way of installing them?

 

On the ground. Unbolt the old ones, install the new ones.

 

No jacking up the truck or anything?

 

Nope shocks are not load bearing. You could take them all off and drive without them if you really wanted. It would ride terribly tho

 

Awesome. Might do them tomorrow maybe.

 

They're pretty bad though, gotta admit.

 

What size socket are the bolts?

 

This. Great shock for reasonable money. Shop around for best price. I bought mine online at advance auto using a coupon and picked them up in store.

I can't help on the bolt/nut size. I remember mine were an odd size and had to borrow the socket from a friend. Spray them well first with your favorite lube and good luck.
