Default Popping clanking noise

I have a 2000 1500 4x4. As I'm driving the truck and I push in the clutch to shift gears and let out the clutch there is a popping noise... I also have the same noise when I let off the accelerator and then give it gas again without pushing in the clutch.... I'm not sure what the noise is. Is it the clutch, or rearend or what could it be???

try coasting next to a brick wall to get a better idea of where the noise is coming from. mcdonalds drive through is when i listen lol but if it is up front check your front end u joints. check each side, get a wrench or piece of steel, stick it between the axle and try see if it moves or if the joint is loose. my truck was making this clunking/popping sound when my u joints were bad. that is a bitch of a job. good luck with that hub nut. hope this helped man.
