Default Engine problems

So my rebuilt 360 isn't starting ....it cranks over but won't start. It has no spark. Everything is hooked up correctly. All the spark plugs should be correct on the dizzy and spark plugs. I did have the dizzy apart to inspect and clean it. I dont remember breaking or moving anything. I'll check fuel pressure in the morning. Anybody help me out with the info given or is there more specific info you guys need?

Blue,
There is a Relay in your underhood box that controls spark. Or it might be a fuse I don't remember 100%. Also you need to go back and check and double check all your connections. If you haven't already get some dielectric grease and squirt some in every one of your connections under the hood. That way you're double checking that everything is connected too.

You need to figure out if you don't have spark at the coil or at the spark plug. Then report back with that info.

Could also be grounds or a bad dist cap.

I had the same problem with my build. I could have sworn that my distributor was right on the money. Had my cousin's husband turn and adjust the distributor while someone was in the cab turning the key. Got it to start that way.

If you aren't getting spark, check the crank sensor. Make sure it didn't get damaged when the engine was installed. (common) and make sure it is hooked up.

I never knew about the relay or fuse for the spark control. Know the location of it by chance?..I've looked over every connection and everything should be good. Di electric grease on connections. I was wondering if I had a bad coil possibly, I'll swap the coil tmrw and see if something happens. I also used the 360's dizzy, not the 318's, would that make a difference? (I'm pretty sure the dizzy of both motors is in ok condition).

I'd get a new dist cap. They're pretty cheap honestly, I got mine for 17 bucks with lifetime warranty from O'Reillys

ASD relay is in the power distribution center. Right behind the battery.

I fixed my problem guys! My crankshaft position sensor was pinched in my bellhousing. I over looked it yesterday, so my bad to HeyYou.....but after swapping sensors, my truck started!!! I have a new question tho: Our scanner at school doesn't give me the option of a fuel sync for a 2001 dodge 1500 but it does for a 1999 dodge 1500. So which year do I go with? I'm asking because tmrw I plan on setting the timing on my truck and get it out of the shop.

What scanner do you have there at school? Sounds like a MT2500 with a cartridge that only goes up through the 1999 model year. That should work on your 2001, if you use the 1999 setting, however, I have not tested that combo to be sure. I still think the probability that it will work fine is very high.
