Default Steering box upgrade?

I have a 99 dodge ram 1500.
Looking at upgrading my steering box to eliminate the play it has and hopefully drive straighter.

Looking at the borgeson 800112 or the 800120 any opinions on which is better?
Or the redhead steering box?
Just looking for some opinions also what would be required such as steering shaft or brace?

Thanks DF

Redhead is a bit more informative about what they do to their rebuilds. Couple members have them, and are quite happy with them.

I think the differences between the two boxes is steering ratio? (one should be 3 turns lock to lock, the other 4, I think??) if you do a lot of trail riding, or want to run big tires, the higher (numerically) ratio would take less effort to turn those tires.

I do run 33's and i do like the idea of less turning of the wheel also looking for a box that helps keep the thing straight and not want to turn after every little bump. No trail riding just street driving and occasional dirt road.

Bump steer is pretty much designed in to these trucks, simply because of the style of steering linkage......

I think the stock ratio is 3 turns..... so, you would just get a less sloppy box.

Get rid of the y-style steering if you want to get rid of the bump steer

I installed a Borgeson 800120 steering box on my truck as part of my full front suspension rebuild to eliminate death wobble. Also installed the Borgeson steering shaft and a steering stabilizer brace from these folks that works with the larger Borgeson steering box:

The truck rides great with the upgraded parts. The steering box and intermediate steering shaft were the last items I changed and before I changed them, I experienced the truck wandering on almost any road surface, due to slop in the steering box.

Ok, apparently the 120 IS a completely new box. The 112 is a rebuild unit, but, ALL the reviews I have seen are singing its praises. The 112 is also a tighter ratio than stock. (fewer turns lock to lock) Of course, it is saying not available on the borgeson website.....
