No don't move anything. Take it off and put the new on. Don't move a thing

The timing marks are on the gears. The crank gear mark should be located at 12 O'clock. The cam gear should be located at 6 O'clock. The marks must line up in a straight line.

Thanks atomic,i meant on the gears, but,my point was you dont want to just be bolting on that cam gear and not knowing if youve just sandwiched the cam and retainer plate together and made it to tight, youll want to at least check to see if you
still have some endplay between the two after you installed the new one..

I have never seen an issue with the retainer plate (or the tensioner, which is made into the retainer) causing a clearance issue with the camshaft or the cam gear in a stock or mild performance configuration.

Default Dots on gears are off center

I got my double roller set from S.A gear.

The dot stamped on the cam gear is not centered. The dot is off center and almost in between 2 teeth.

The 0 stamped on the crank gear is in the center of 2 teeth, but from looking at pictures that one seems correct.

Also. Advance, Retard, or Stock setting?

Is the cam gear supposed to be this way? Probably gonna go to autozone and tell them to order another so I can compare them.

I ran mine stock..... advance is supposed to give a bit more bottom end, retard, just the opposite. According to theory though, the cam already has 4* advance ground into it....

Default Are the dots alright on the timing chain

Dot stamped on the cam gear isn't entirely centered on the tooth. Parts store guy barely looked at it and said its fine. Wasn't satisfied with his answer.

So what do you think?

I would think the marks relate to the position of the keyway, not the teeth, as the keyway defines the relative positions of the crank and cam.
