Welcome to DF!

*Should* be able to just swap sensors. Check the crank sensor as well. (also, it's a good idea to remove it BEFORE yanking the engine, and have the engine bolted back in place before reinstalling it, they are frequently casualties of engine/trans R&R.)

Should also swap intake manifolds. The 94 has two temp sensors, one for the dash gauge, and one the PCM uses. 98 only has provisions for 1. Not to mention, the 98 intake has no provision for EGR.

Thank You for the welcome *) I ordered a new crank sensor for it the harness was different as well considering the year it was time for it regardless--I learned my lesson on the crank sensor some time back--the hard way--really really the hard way--we were stumped on why the truck wouldnt start--finally after much painful wire tracing etc-we found the crank sensor wire was pinched to death between the block n trans Thank You much for the tips-*salute
