weird noise coming from accessory off accessory belt
Alright cool, what did you use to keep the clutch in place? I can't even afford to rent the wrench at AutoZone. I'm just planning on taking the clutch off and spraying wd40 on the bearing to see if it helps
First take belt off and spin pulley by hand. If its quiet AND smooth, it's good. The clutch stays in the compressor, the pulley pulls out with the bearing after removing the single visible bolt in the middle of the pulley.
WD 40 will not help as the bearing is sealed. I never spray the stuff near my belt.
if you need a new bearing, get it THEN tear into it. Use a press to remove bearing but if you do not have access to one you can knock out the old one on a solid, level surface with a big socket.

Install the new one the same way being sure the socket you use is making contact with the bearing race and not the plastic seal.
Keep aware of how the thin metal ring sits, it is beveled on one side.

It seems quiet and smooth as far as I can tell, but I got the stethoscope and the noise it definitely coming from the compressor. It has to be the bearing since nothing on the compressor runs when the clutch is disengaged am I right? How do you get the nut off the clutch? Is there some sort of special tool?
Noise from the compressor while engaged (ac on) or disengaged?
I forgot about the snap ring. You will need to remove it to get the pulley off.
The service manual covers this procedure. You might be able to download it from here somewhere or check google for it.

That's what I'm doing, I'm not sure if compressors on all the different engines went together differently, but I have the 5.2 and with the belt on the pulley, the pulley stays stationary and clutch spins with the wrench
i got it off, needed a special tool. replaced the bearing and it's still making the noise. it's more of a whining and does not sound like a bearing. sounds like its coming from the driver side so the only other thing is the power steering pump, but the noise doesn't change when i turn the wheel, i have no clue what this damn noise is
