Default main ground question

She's a 96 1500 5.2 4wd. I ripped apart the motor and rebuilt. Everything's back together nowbut I have one wire and can't remember where the hell goes. it's the main black wire that comes out of the fuse box. Can anyone tell me where it grounds too or goes. It's the last thing before I turn the key. Thanks in advance

i have absolutely no idea, however, might just ground to the chassis. That would be a secure ground..

Ok this might be a stupid question and if it turns out this is it I'm going to feel like a complete idiot. There a red wire from the batt running into the fuse block and a black one running out. Could the black be for the alt?

If any one has this model and engine and can possibly take a look and trace it that would help me a lot. Xplorer82 if u can get a pic of it and where it goes that would be great.

I'm pretty sure it goes over to the alternator but I don't want to hook it up and blow the thing up if it's not right lol.

If it is the wire to the left of the big red in this picture than yes it goes to the alt.
Also if you look closely you will see that there is a 120 amp fuse connected between the 2 wires in the power distribution center.

One from the PDC box goes to bolt holding power steering pump and there should be one going over to alt from neg battery terminal. Least that's how mine is. Can't tell which is which, they both go into convolute stuff.

One from the PDC is a hot wire, if he grounds it he will blow up the battery.
It goes to the alternator.
From the Service manual:
The 3 grounds from the battery go to
Left Fender Side Shield
Below A/C Compressor
Front of Right Frame Rail
