Default Coolant Leak

Alright have a strange issue, doesn't seem to be going away.

Bypassed the heater core yesterday to have AC, problem today is after driving to a destination after I turn the truck off coolant will leak from where the 2 hoses meet together.

I've never had this issue before, the clamps are tight, hoses aren't ripped, are in good shape.

After the truck has been off for around 5-10 minutes it will stop leaking.

Had this problem this morning while going to a customer's house with AC off, didn't have the problem going back home with AC on, truck sat for about an hour or so and had to go back out, got to my destination and sure enough it was leaking again once I cut the truck off, that time I did use AC.

Truck was off for about 35 minutes, went back home, same exact route and seems no leakage.

The heat function was fully operational before I bypassed, so the lines shouldn't be clogged, the truck isn't running hot, at it's normal temp.

Can't figure out why it wants to leak half of the time. Any ideas? Too hot right now to mess with too much, have to let it cool a bit.

Pull it apart, clean the little metal splice pipe, make sure it is in good condition, then put some new clamps on it. Should take care of it.

Definitely, use some good worm clamps in place of those factory style spring clamps.

Out of curiosity, what type of coolant are you using? Is it the reddish DexCool stuff? If so, it's been my experience that DexCool tends to clog things up over time.

Turns out it was a slit end on the hose, didn't catch it till I was trying some screw style clamps:

Had enough hose to cut the end off, used the stock clamp and no leaks so far.

I'm using generic green coolant.

i was going to suggest cutting an inch or two off each hose to get back to unstretched hose.

the reason it leaks for a few minutes after you cut it off is that with water pump not turning, it gets hotter than normal for about 15 minutes after you stop, and the increased temperature increases the pressure. so that triggers leaks in hoses, radiators, and water pumps for that 15 minute period and then they go away, and might even dry up...
