Most parts stores will also read codes for for free. (the advance auto here just lets me borrow the reader, and use it out in their parking lot. but, I have been a customer there since they opened. )
Most autozones and such will let you "borrow" an OBDII scanner. You pay full price for it, and they refund everything when you bring it back, and you can keep it for 90 days.

I also have one i got online (a bluetooth one) for about 12 bucks. I can go figure out exactly which one i got if you would like. Works well with the torque app on my phone.

Default Bluetooth sounds great

Yes please let me know the brand you use. Unfortunately I have a Windows phone. Applications are rare.
I do have a Android pad with touch screen etc. I may be able to use that.

Default Code Reader /Scanner Used

Someone mentioned Autozone having a loaner. Thanks
I borrowed an OTC 3109NLAZ OBD II and CAN Scam Tool.
The tester had no errors and threw no codes at all. I drove the truck until it died and tested it again.
I have some updated information I'm going to start in a new thread.
