Default CHECK GAUGES........dash light comes on DING DING!!!

REALLY STRANGE
have no idea of WHY.... this little red text appears on the dash, the dinger goes off twice....and then it goes out!!!!
EVEN STRANGER........ the only time the above happens....i brake, AND MAKE A RIGHT TURN)))))))
to give ya little history, october 2013,one of the power booster bolts pulled out of the power booster, i lost my brakes and hit the car in front of me. didnt even set of any air bags, bent the metal part of the front bumper, got it replaced($40 at a u pull it)and new power booster.
after that sometimes i have to lift the brake pedal when its parked as the brake lights wil stay on, lost the cruise control for a while, but now its working.
iam thinking the 15-20 mph hit got some sensor going wacko.....any ideas????

What are your gauges doing when the check lite comes on? Usually it is whining about something, even if it is just low fuel.

Your brake lights staying on and cruise control not always working points to a bad brake light switch. Look behind your brake pedal for a switch with a wire harness attached to it (6 wires I believe). It is a plunger type switch that is activated when the brake pedal is pressed down. If it fails your brake lights will stay on and it will shut off the cruise. You can tell this by the plunger staying depressed in when you let off the pedal. $13 part at autozone or oreillys and takes 5 minutes to replace.

Although you do mention having to "lift" the pedal, is it possible you don't have your brake booster attached to the firewall correctly? It could be loose or on crooked so you have more play in the pedal than you should. I would look there first before replacing any parts. See if the bolts aren't in straight or have loosened up, I would remove them, make sure the booster is lined up correctly and reattach. Then if the check gauges light comes back you can go after the switch.

What is your oil pressure gauge saying when this happens? Does it drop and then rise back up? That will definitely set off the check gauges light and could be something like a sending unit issue or just low oil sloshing to one side when you turn allowing the pickup tube to suck up air and a brief drop in pressure.

seems none of the gauges are going wacko....but i will look at the oil gauge next time it happens....after it happens.all gauges are normal....
as for the brake light switch.....SINCE the new power booster, i have had the problem of the brake lights staying on........the guy who installed the power booster(i had back surgery in july, so couldnt do it myself)bent it a little...but if a new switch will fix it ill do that.

This is exactly what mine was doing. I was a quart low on oil and when I applied the brakes it sloshed just enough for a bubble of air. By the time I checked my gauges, the oil pressure was already rebounding.

Check the oil level next time you go out to the truck. I'll bet that you're low.

mine did that when the oil pressure sending unit developed a leak. when driving at speed it would be fine. when stopping and idling the oil pressure would drop to zero and the dash would light up with yellow and red and "ding"

PROBLEM SOLVED...thanks guys.stupid here dont have enough sense to CHECK THE DIPSTICK!!!!! put 2 qts in it....no more DING DING when braking and turning.
NOW.......I GUESS THE PLENUM GASKET IS GONE AGAIN....had it replaced when i bought the truck 6-7 years ago. had 63,000 on it then now iam 101,000........still a great truck.
not much maintenance over the years. oil changes, tires brakes normal stuff.
major repairs was all 4 ball joints, idler and pitman arm, the power booster bolt braking off............so i guess ill watch the oil consumption....from now on.

Glad to hear you figured it out, did you put on the Hughes kit when you did the plenum? If not I would highly recommend it! Also, you will likely need to replace the upstream O2 sensor if you are sucking that much oil down the intake.
