Default 2 gen ignition issue

I own a 96 ram 1500 2wd 5.2.sometime i find it hard to turn my turn when it's in the iignition.yesterday when i tried to start the engine the key turned all the way to start position but there was no tension like there usually is. after i tried starting a few times(with no luck) i turn the key to the off position and took my key out of the ignition, then my radio turns ON. i finally got the key position corrected by turning my key forwards and back and eventually got truck to start.now i have this issue everytime i attempt to start truck .. is anyone familiar with this type problem that can make an educated guess as to if this is my ignition cylinder or ignition switch..thanks in advance

OK, I am not going to suggest anything as you requested, hope you can fix it. But I think it's time carmakers turn all cars to keyless push-button start.

Time for a new ignition switch methinks. Lock cylinder is part of it.
