Default Oil pressure gauge

1998 ram 4x4 5.9 gas, So when i start the truck up hot or cold i have oil pressure when i put in gear it looses pressure i give it a little throttle it comes back, never loose pressure when on the gas, only loose it when not on the throttle and not every time i would say if i came to a stop at 20 signals it would loose pressure at 7 of them then i just give a little gas and boom pressure is right back, sorry if i didn't explain this clearly but its intermittent truck is full of 10-40 oil new filter did on last oil change too any ideas is it really the pump or the sending unit ? not leaking any oil has new plenum and fresh tuneup

looses pressure to what extent? to 0? it is normal for the oil pressure to fluctuate. raises when accelerating and decreases when the motor slows.

Here any lifter tick? If your oil pressure was actually 0 you wouldn't have an engine anymore. If there's no other syptoms besides what the gauge says. It's probabbky just the sending unit. Put a mechanical gauge on it.

+1 check sending unit if no lifter noise is heard.

upon first startup there us about 5 seconds of lifter tap but then its gone and never comes back after that first 5 seconds, just really annoying when the check gauges keeps coming on when it drops the pressure

Yeah, replace the pressure sending unit. Probably solve it.
