subs
I having trouble deciding if i should put one or two subs in the truck? i going to run solo baric s10l7's? how loud are these subs? i have already raised the seat so no worries there. started building the box with two subs in mind. worried that i won't be able to hide the big amp to power the two subs and with 2 subs will be to loud. i plan on putting the amp in the middle of the seat on the hump. the subs will share the air space in a sealed box. any suggestions would be helpfull. if anyone has these subs in you truck it would be even more helpfull with your opion.
Well, if noise is an issue for you, then simply go with one sub and place the amp actually in the box instead of on the seat hump. These subs are capable of some serious noise and you should definitely line the rear of your truck cab with Dynomat to help deaden up the metal rattle. I would personally go with a 12" sub and then the amp. It allows you to keep the amp and sub hidden as well as not make it too loud.
Personally, the simpler it is, the better. Less to mess with, and less to worry about moving. I think a Solobaric 12 and whatever amp you choose, provided its enough to power the sub, would be ideal.

I would refrain from mounting the amp on or in the box .The sub after time will shake the amp non stop .A slo bearc sub puts out some noise and power .You going to get in your truck one day and come to find an amp thats in a million peices from being shook apart .I have 2 10's in a JL box under my back seat and both my amps on the floor in the back .I made a wooden frame box with plexi on top so when ppl get back there they can still have some place for their feet to go .

I'm runnin one solo-baric 10 in the center consol of mine, and it hits hard. I'm runnin it in 1 ohm and using a Orion 600 to put up to 1200 Watts into the thing. It's great. I'd highly suggest it. I've got the amp under the driver seat and the cap right behind it. Awesome setup and the sound sounds so centralized. And with the remote gain, I have instant adjustability. Lemme know if you want the box dimensions and all. I still have the center storage left too.
noise really isn't an issue just begging to loud to deal with. i just don't want to regret it going both ways. don't feel like building a new box and buying a new amp. i defenitely plane on lining the truck up with dynomat. carpet is worn down bad. also rewiring speakers. i already have a 10" older style.
if i just do one sub the amp would be mount on the other side of the truck. already thought about it getting loose. going to put those wood screws in that you recess into the wood and lock tight the bolts.
i got a mock up amp to use to see where i could hide it at.
ill post pics in the next month. have to many other things to worry about then this. get to work on it about 5 hours a week.

I've got 2 Infinity 12s in a custom box where they share the airspace. They are powered by a Kenwood 1000w amp. They are very loud and I have no reason to get any louder. I know that SB's are really loud and sound really good so my suggestion would be one SB 12 and the amp.

the SB 12l7 reqiures alot of air space i dont thing that it would sound good at all in a dodge just because you would have to almost build a box to small for them. I used to work a a streo shop and a kid brought some in to put in a chevy and had to end up going with 10s so he would have the proper box and air space for them to sound good but what doesnt sound good to me might sound good to you its all a matter of personal opinion and its your truck just my .02
I had some trouble too. I had an old box with my subs from when they were in my car,but i dont have that no more so....i looked for trucks boxes online but i could not find any becauses my subs are square. so i took the old box and hand cut it in half which took like 2 hrs. and then i got the big bad saw and cut about 2-3" off the back. I have storage trays in my truck and they fit like a dream. So i have 2 competition 10"s in my truck and they sound great, right bass when its needed, but not to much all the time that its ruins rock and roll.
