Default clunk shortly after take off

I have a 2001 dodge 1500 4x4 with 5.2 and upon getting truck back from transmission shop due to problem in valve body and rear servo (under warranty) I started to notice a clunk shortly after take off. My first guess was a u-joint, no problem there, then I searched the forum and stumbled upon the t-case saver so just a few minutes ago I pulled the drive-shaft and tail shaft housing from t-case to see if snap ring was broken or out of its groove. No problem there so I buttoned her back up. To me it sounds like there is some play somewhere or something is catching or locking in. I did see a post from someone on here about the noise is from the direct drum due to it spinning and the forward drum grabbing it and pulling it into the stop drive shell. If this is where my noise is someone please tell me so I can stop worrying about the noise and quit listening for it while driving. Thanks guys

Take it back to where you had the work done, show them the noise, see what they have to say.

I actually took it to the shop last week for its 2 week check up as they wanted to make sure everything was good and tight and no leaks. I talked to the owner about the clunk and even rode with him to point out the problem and he said they just do that, and this is supposedly from a guy that builds racing transmissions. Go figure!

Mine doesn't do that..... I get a clunk shifting from reverse to forward gears, or the other way around, but, I actually expect that from a 4x4...... once going though, no odd noises.

My 2000 Ram 1500 has 168.000 miles on it, and there is no clunk noise from the transmission at all, warm or cold. Take it back to the shop and tell the owner that - no, they don`t just do that, and he needs to fix it right.

That would be like taking your truck for a knock in the engine and the mechanic saying they just do that
