Default Bad plenum gasket--how long can I keep driving?

So, I'm pretty sure I have a bad plenum gasket. All the signs are there. Lower MPG, power issues, vacuum issues, more oil loss than the Valdez. I'm just wondering how long I can drive it before I need to replace it. I am planning on taking next weekend and tearing it down and replacing it along with a bunch of other stuff since I'm in there anyway. July the 4th weekend is the latest I'll work on it since it's a long weekend right after a payday.

The big reason I ask is I want to go up with my trailer to get my wife and her car this coming weekend. It's about 400 miles, one way. She just doesn't like the idea of that long of a drive by herself and I don't mind it. Just wondering if it's something I need to scratch or if I'll be alright. Thanks.

Should be fine. Think of it this way, how many of these trucks were built and sold? How many do you think don't even have a clue about the plenum issue? They just keep dumping oil in when it's low and call it a worn and tired motor, nothing to worry about.

I've talked to a couple mechanic shops before and they had no idea about the issue.

So, as I said, I think it'll be fine. Just bring some oil with you in case you need it.

Drive it like it was already fixed. You should be fine.

That would be me and I picked one up from Snowfan already. It's a nice looking piece.
