With that thought in mind, that is why I did an engine swap. Once the freshened up motor was ready to go in, I completed the engine swap over a weekend. I later sold the old original motor on craigslist as a core for rebuilding.
Yeah, there is something to be said for NOT operating under the pressure of time to get it done..... you tend to rush, and end up doing part of it again. Just picking up another motor, re-doing that one, and then swapping, is a really good plan. (and why I have two 360's here.... one on the stand, one on the barn floor..... no one seems to want to buy a core around here though...)

I actually sold the heads and the short block separately and the process was not quick, but I'm a very patient guy
