440 swap

Why bother, when you can easily stroke your existing 5.9 engine to 408 ci and stay with fuel injection? Check out this link for a 4 inch crank rotating assembly part number.

BTW, I have tons of big block engine stuff and I would not even consider doing that swap, since the 408 small block is more than enough to put a huge smile on your face. Besides, a cast crank 408 rotating assembly is pretty reasonable in price.

You've already made up your mind so what is it that you're asking us? Do you want us to tell you how to do the swap? If you have to ask you shouldn't be trying it yourself.
It will all have to be custom fab work to get it installed. Is this a 4X2 or 4X4? If 4X4 how are you going to hook up the transfer case?

I won't tell you it's impossible.. Anything is possible with the right amount of time or money. There are many threads on this swap but I have only seen 1 completed swap thread. Lots of fabbing and swearing, but it is possible. My recommendation to you is sell your 440 and 5 speed. If power is what you want, do a 408 build like said or do a v10 488 swap. Both of these mods are a lot easier than a 440 swap and the v10 pretty much bolts in to a 1500 and will produce the same power numbers as a 440 but with a "factory like" installation and fuel injection.
If you do decide to do a 440 swap, I will try my best to help

The V10 swap is also a good avenue, however, you would have to be sure to acquire the V10 motor, trans and transfer case, as the V8 trans does not bolt-up to the V10. Also need the V10 wiring harness and computer. The only downside to the V10 is cost and performance mod potential, unless your wallet is really deep.
With a 5.9 stroker, you could even go with a 426 stroker kit, if desired.

Just because you have a 440 doesn't mean you have a good 440.
Some smogger engine out of grandpa's 75 Newport isn't fantastic.
Weight vs power comes to mind.
A stroker 5.9 will eat your 440. Unless you want to spend $1000's making the 440 perform.
But that money spent on a fuel injected 5.9 is better off.
Your boat anchor 440 would be nice in a 75ish Truck. Just for giggles. But such a gas hog.
