I'm fairly new here and just heard about the vac. leak problems with the intake manifold (upper & lower sealing). Have you put a vac. gauge on the motor. I am going to do it soon and was wondering how many Inches/H20 is normal?

ok today we hooked it up to the computer and it started to die for us and we raised the RPM with out pushing the gas and the RPM'S would go up but still sounded like crap and trying to die. if we push the gas pedle it will fix it from dieing. any more ideas guys? im going to replace the O2 sensor now. my money is just going down the hole on this problem.

Thanks dan

check ur ignition circuit and your ignition coil, if it fixes it when u step on the gas they might not be igniting correctly. Just a thought, also...this might sound retarded but have u changed your oil recently and is it a really heavyweight. Maybe u have a compression problem to. Also, i would still get in there with a toothbrush and some throttle body cleaner and clean that TB. Otherwise, maybe its your fuel injectors...it could be anything with fuel or ignition.

is it possible the tps is not on there right? I have replaced my tps in the past and it ran real funny because the sensor was not mounted right. I pulled it off and re-installed it and it was all good. if I recall correctly, when you do the install, you need to turn it slightly in one direction to line up the sensor correctly, then when you turn it to mount it, it should move the sensor contacts slightly. another thing is to check the sensor at idle... should be .75v or so...

can you re-cap what you've done so far?

By now i'm sure you've cleaned that throttle body about 15 times, which would have been the first thing i would have done too....It could also be a vaccuum leak, but I'd think it would be running rough the whole time if it was a vaccuum leak. Check the voltage on those sensors when they are warm. Sometimes sensors crap out when they get up to temperature. Forget buying an O2 sensor until you try running it without it being hooked up. It'll run without it allbeit maybe a little rich. If it quits trying to die without it hooked up, then you found your cluprit. If that isnt it,...............somebody didnt shove a potato up your exhaust did they?

Hey man i've had that same problem im 18 and go to a vocational school and i had my buds look at it, they scanned it and checked everything, turned out the coil wire was shorting out so we replaced the wire and snapped the new coil into the distributor so take it to a mechanic and im more than 99% positive its that, i had the same exact problem and it felt like stalling then all the sudden the whole truck would shake and i thought it was intake or a vaccuum in tranny or O2 sensor i would've never thought it was a coil wire...

i just want to thank every one for helping me try to find this problem. as of today iv put new plugs, wires. IAC and put a temp sensor in. Iv tested for vaccuum leaks and tested the MAP and TPS and IAC sensor they all tested good when it started to die. iv cleaned the TB.
I have made sure all the wires in the engine are pluged in and grouned right. updated the computer for new updates. hooked it up to the chrysler corporations comper (I think its called the DURB) to see if anything was telling it to run lean. when we hooked it up to the durb last night the only thing a little weird we got was the O2 sensor was saying low oxygen but it shows the O2 sensor switching so it could just not be switching fast enough. and like i said when it was hooked up to the computer and it started to die we raised the RPM to 2000 but it still wanted to die and if you did that with the pedal it would give it the gas and fix it.

Thanks Dan

yea we tested mine today and it was shaking for them and my friend set the idle at 800 on the scanner and it said the 6th cylinder was misfiring it was code like p0305 or something which ment it was something on that wire or on the distributor then we test the voltage and found that the wire was shorting out cause it burned through cause it was touchnig metal when there was suppose to be a cover over that part of the wire and we replaced the wire and everythnig runs great, some advice before the start the truck in the A/M climb in the hood and push down all the caps on the wire on distributor to make sure they are snapped in and then push in all your spark plug caps and then check all the wires to make sure they are free and not touching or rubbing anything and i can promise its your wires shorting out or misfiring ive spent almost a grand in things getting replaced that wasn't even the problem.....
