well I think I might be screwed... I guess there is supposed to be a key in the output shaft. on the driveshaft yoke there is a space in the spline for it to slide in, so the driveshaft only goes on in way to match the key (?).. well, I can bottom out my yoke anyway I slide it in...

I took a flashlight and tried to find the Key on my output shaft and I honestly cant see it, not to mention even with the seal out it is hard to see inside there... I do see something in there, not sure if it is just glare from the metal and fluid giving me a false view or if my key has been sheared off. I do not see anything on the output shaft splines or the yoke splines that slide over it that indicate it being sheared off.

can anyone remember while replacing their u joints, and upon reinstallation of the DS if they had to line up a Key to get the DS to slide in place?

Don't worry about it, a lotta yokes have one spline missing and no key for some darn reason. Don't recall the reason for it.

thanks Arde..

looks like my next focus is on my rear wheel bearings. i wish i could find some drum brake backing plates locally while in there. mine are rusted and one is pretty beat up.

anyway, im a pic/vid wh0re, so here is the rear wheel bearings. sounds worse with the wheels off then on. i also have up and down play, not in vids.
