Default Cam and valve train question

I'm going to be putting a cam in my truck next. I am running the MOPAR m1 4 barrel intake and a quickfuel hr600 carb.

I'm looking at the whiplash cam from Hughes but It says that you shouldn't run it in a factory magnum bottom end because compression is too high. Why is that? I didn't think a cam had anything to do with that.

Specs on the cam are
Lift- int .544/exh .544
Duration- int 222/exh 228
Lobe seperation- 107
Intake centerline- 102

I know I'll need valve springs, I'm going to run 1.6 roller rockers, will I need different pushrods?

Oooo, thats gonna be a lopey cam. Huge lift, relatively long duration, tight lob separation. That cam is actually going to WANT higher compression. Could it be they don't recommend a stock bottom end, due to a LACK of compression? Link to the cam on the Hughes site?

May need different pushrods.... I think I would replace the stockers in any event, with some nice, hardened pieces... that's a lotta lift, and is probably going to also have some pretty serious spring pressures.

cam wont work. need to be carbed and non computer controlled. you also need lower compression...

I see that now... still wont work due to too high of compression...

i know what it says, that's why im asking. how does it produce too much cylinder pressure? I know the short lobe separation plays a part in it but its the same as a comp thumpr and they don't say anything about causing too much cylinder pressure, ive seen them run in stock motors without issues. I was just trying to figure out why it wont work

Call Hughes Engines and ASK!!!! They are the ones saying it so they would be the ones to answer your question.
