Default Motor build help

Hey guys I have a 98 dodge 318 motor I want to build over time but I need somewhere to start. I want to build it to have a lot of torque. I have a guy that will do head work for me but he said my stock 318 heads are worthless. So what kind of heads should I get? And also would it be worth making it a stroker motor? If so what size? Thanks for any info

Grab a junk yard 360 block and do a stock rebuild....Cubes ahead of the 318.

Best option and keeps your truck on the road.

Check out Odessa Heads. They sell EQ heads for our engines. They are better castings of our stock heads.

It all depends upon how much you are willing to spend. As mentioned, the cheapest route to more torque is to find a used 5.9 motor and install it. If you are interested in building a stroker for even more torque, find a good used 5.9 block and purchase a 408 stroker kit. Have the block prepared to accept the stroker kit and you will have a very torquey short block. Add on some Odessa EQ heads and you will be very happy with the results. Here is a link to a 408 stroker kit so that you can have an idea as to pricing for the kit:

Thanks for the info guys. Money is not a problem on this project because I'm in no hurry to get it done right away. But I do already have a '94 5.9 that's in my parts truck now. Runs and all. So I should just build it then? I was told a built 318 was more reliable but I want something that's going to have people shaking when I start it up you know? I want this motor to just have the most ***** it can possibly take. I have plans when the motor is done to put it back in my 98 ram but things could change between now and then

If it's any help I'd like to get around 400 or more horsepower and at least close to 600 or more torque
