I've been trying to read up here on the forums on the codes i have pulled from my '95 1500 5.9L 2WD.

12 - recent battery disconnect

32 - EGR (replacing next check)

but the one im having trouble with is code 34 - Speed control Solenoid circuits.

ive tried doing some reading, and something that hit home, was cruise control issues. mine seems to have an attitude problem. sometimes it works, most of the time it doesnt. when it does decide to work, it's random on how long it will keep speed, between half a mile, and a full 4 hour road trip. i've never bothered to get it fixed, i dont need it often enough. however, i did notice when replacing the MAP sensor today, there are 2 wires or cables by the throttle control ... thing (on the side of the intake, under the air box, that connects to the accelerator, swivels when you step on the gas) and they are somewhat lose? would this be why my cruise can't hold speed, if those cables are what keeps the throttle in position?

The most common problem with the cruise control that I have read here, is that the vacuum lines crack or break, causing the cruise control to not properly work, or causing it to not work at all. The vacuum lines run under the battery, and it seems to be the most common place were they break.

 

thanks for the tip, i'll check under the battery. if it's not vacuum lines, what else trips the code 34?

 

Same thing. Battery junk drops down onto the servo for the cruise, and it really isn't very good for it. If the wiring looks ok, probably the solenoids in the servo are toast. Just replace the whole thing. Should be able to get one at a junkyard fairly cheap.
