Today, out of the blue, when I went to park, the shift lever would not go all the way into park, at least not easily. If you give it a little effort you can get it, but it doesn't feel good. I looked at the linkage and nothing seemed obviously wrong, but I didnt see anything obvious. Also, this may or may not be related, but my trans has been shifting out of 1st later than usual. Around 2500+ even at light throttle and shifting a little firmer. Sounds almost like the TV cable got adjusted tighter almost. So they both seem like they could be related to shift linkage, so I figured I'd throw them both out there. Any ideas?
It goes through all the other gears normally, but when you get almost to park, it suddenly gets really hard to move, but you can get it in, its just difficult.
Disconnect the linkage from the trans. (trans in neutral, and wheels blocked.) Try and shift into park at the trans. See if it is binding there, or, in the linkage.
