trani issues

Default trani issues

Ok i have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 and lost reverse so had trani shop repair revers and got that fixed and now it sometimes slips in passing gear it down shifts fine and wen it gets about 4000 rpms it slips but not all the time also usually if u put in reverse and step on it it will screech the tires but in my case it makes a loud noise like its slipping but if i back up easily its fine???? Please help thanks

Check the TV cable adjustment. If that is fine it might be time to have the 3rd/Reverse band adjusted.

How long ago was it rebuilt?

Last month had the reverse drum, band and planetary gear replaced

They had the trans disassembled, and that's all they did????

I would have a different opinion on that, considering what you are experiencing now..... Might take it back to them, and see what they suggest.

From the experiences learned by others on DF, if you're going to take something apart, just replace it all.

Yes i agree on that part but im a father of five and did what i could afford so for now just gonna park it until i can save enough to buy a better trans cause all i here is trouble from this trans

If you have the time, and a place to work, rebuild it yourself. Several members on here have done so, and they had never been into a trans before. Labor is what kills you on those.... (a lot like gears.....)

Agreed. or at very least same up til you have enough to do the full rebuild. When i had to have mine rebuilt the cheapest i could find wanted $3000 to rebuild it, ended up rebuilding it myself for $300. About a month after i got it done a transmission shop opened up right down the street from me and they where offering complete rebuilds for $1000.
