Exclamation Good Lord. Someone help me. :(

Alright guys, I've had my Dodge Ram with a 5.9 for about a year and a half. Didn't hav any problems for a while after I bought. The truck has 177,000 miles on it. Back last August I had to replace my 4Wd adapter housing. It had the death twist and book off at the transfer case . my speedometer has not worked, and I replaced the speed sensor on the transfer case, as well as the pigtail that came with it. I use atf +4 and I have since I bought this truck. Last night on my way home, I noticed it back firing whenever I let of the gas going about 60. I got about 5 miles from my house and went to turn onto a road and my cruise control light on my steering wheel started blinking really quickly, and every time it went off, in like 1 second intervals the truck would gain power back. But every time the light flashed on, the truck would sputter. I have plenty of gas. My cats have been gutted. My check engine light is on and the codes I received before it broke down were po123 and po500. TPS and VSS. I replaced VSS still no speedometer. I also don't have any overdrive. I haven't since before the overdrive housing broke off. Any suggestions??? Please help me out guys. I love this truck but I'm about at wits end.

What year is your truck?

Have you fixed the Plenum? Sounds like a wicked vacuum leak in addition to other issues.

Haven't fixed the Plenum. If u put my truck into Park it will start and idle perfect. If I put it into drive, or any other gear it shuts off when I hit the gas. Got it to go up the road earlier and when I let off the gas, boom. Dies again. My exhaust is cut off at the cat due to rust and planned on repairing it in a week or so. I do run 1000 Watt system and I was driving at night when my truck shut off. Don't know if that will help at all. I get one code now for my truck which is the TPS but I still have no speedometer after replacing the VSS

Default 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L

Already changed TPS. It idles perfect, put her in drive and she dies. It dies more and faster if I take my foot off my gas.

If you haven't cleaned the throttle body, now would be a good time. Take it off the truck, and pull the IAC out of the back, clean that bore really well too.

Does the truck just die? Or, does it lurch in whatever direction, then die? (would need to be a fairly significant lurch.....)
