Default New fan clutch seems to not disengage!

So my truck was roaring like a Mack truck and I could tell that the fan clutch was always running so I sprung and bought a new one on eBay. I swapped it today in 45 minutes and started the truck up and it was quiet! I could actually hear my new flowmaster instead of the GD fan. First drive was awesome, too. Truck had way more pep and it made me realize just what the old fan clutch was robbing from my poor little 318.

Well the second drive wasn't as pleasant. The new clutch started doing what the old one was.

Did I get a dud or what?

Do I have to swap it again?

New fan clutch was from Hayden.

Thanks for any input

New parts can be bad out of the box. I would send it back for a replacement. My truck still has the original fan clutch (as far as I know), and you can`t hear it at all.

Dang it. It really bothers me know that I know just how nice it is when it works right.

Plus I can't return it since it was installed.... Which is pretty dumb if you ask me.

Any ideas on a quality replacement?

I buy most of my parts from rockauto.com, they have Hayden fan clutches starting around $36.00 dollars. But if you have a Napa or other parts stores near you, you might want to buy from them, in case you have a problem with the part you can take it back.

The clutches are heat operated Kiel a thermostat maybe you could drop it in boiling water or use a torch or something to try to see if the new one engages and disnegages. Idk maybe impossible becaue of the way it's made just throwing things out there.
