Default superchips flashpaq worth it?? 5.9L

Moved this from 3rd gen to see if i can get more advice.

So im looking to get the superchips plashpaq programmer. I have a 2002 ram 1500 with the 5.9L gas engine. The website says i need the 3842 for my truck. anybody have any experience with this programmer and possibly this engine in particular??

Any issues i need to be warried about with this?? I've read about possible tranny issues?? and something about a tranny update for $40 i need to get?? I also read that some of the features my not be compatible depending on what the truck offers, for example re- calibrating the speedo? shift points?

The last thing i want to do is spend $350 and have an issue down the road. I already have a magnaflow cat back exhaust and k&n CAI. i would love the extra power that i've read it says it gives you and maybe a bit if mpg's. i also want the tire re-calibration because i am getting larger tires soon. i just dont want the extra issues that may (or may not?) come with it.

Thanks for any help and advice you can tell me!!

Personally I'd see if Sean at Hemifever has something you might like. The SCT he has is $45 more, but he usually makes it worth it. I'd shoot him an email at hemifever@aol.com and inquire about some specifics.

ive had the superchips on both my truck (5.9l 360) and my old grand cherokee (4.0l inline 6)....I now have the SCT on my truck. The sct is better for performance but I was also happy with the superchips because of its ability to compensate for tire size although I never used this feature on my truck. On the jeep, I was able to change the speedometer to account for 32" tires. Honestly, don't expect mind blowing performance boosts from any tuner...tuners are meant to complement other engine mods
