Default Vacuum leak??

Hey all
when I replace my heater core. I noticed I did break a brittle vacuum line. so my neighbor took a heat shrink tube. and slipped over both ends far enough then heated both ends leaving the mid section open for vacuum... is poss that this make shift repair is not tight enough??

it can be heard inside cab..hissing sound.. but when you open the hood its extremely hard to hear where its coming from...
any ideas?? where I can start
the brittle line that broke had a tag on it >>55055705AB< 98466 26592

which I googled.. and got this
55055705AB ; 55036097; 55055705 ManufacturerChryslerCategoriesAir Conditioning & Heat > Air Conditioner and Heater Units; Air Conditioning & Heat > AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATER UNIT; Fuel > SPEED CONTROLcan someone tell me in Layman's Terms???? what my next step should be?? what this all means???
As I am looking this up I noticed its expensive so Im planning to get another line..
I appreciate the help

Thanks

May have broken in more than one spot. The plastic lines age, get brittle, and break.... Getting a bit of rubber 5/16ths vacuum line as a patch works best.

I smear a very small amount on silicone on the outside of the old hard line... this aids sliding the rubber tube over it, and when set up it seals and helps stop it pulling apart.

The line is notorious for chaffing through on the firewall.
