Default very slow tranny temp gauge rise

I just installed an autometer tranny temp gauge in my 2001 ram 1500
and it very very slowly rises I will drive for 30min on the highway and it barely climbs. It is steady but after 30mins it only got to 180 and seemed to still be climbing. I have a shallow sender in my governor test port. Any help would be good I don't know if this is normal.
Thanks
kody

Not sure if that port always has pressure...... Might try getting one of the adapters, and putting the sensor on the cooler line coming out of the trans. (get a more accurate reading that way as well.)
