DRIVING IS A PRIViLIGE. NOT A RIGHT. YOUR LICENSE CAN BE TAKEN AWAY FASTER THAN IT WAS GIVIN TO YOU WHEN YOU TURNED 16. WHICH IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR NOT MUCH OLDER THAN THAT. OBEY THE TRAFFIC LAWS OF YOUR STATE. DON'T FLOOR IT AT YELLOW LIGHTS. [sm=gears.gif]YELLOW DOES MEAN CAUTION OR SLOW DOWN AND PREPARE TO STOP. I DRIVE OVER A TOLL BRIDGE ON A DAILY BASIS. ONE DAY MY BATTERIES WERE DEAD IN MY TRANSPONDER AND DID NOT REGISTER THAT I HAD GONE THRU THE TOLL PLAZA. THE CAMERAS GOT ME, SAW MY TAG AND STILL CHARGED ME A BUCK AND A HALF. STATE OF FL NOTIFIED ME BY LETTER LETTING ME KNOW. NO BIG DEAL. REPLACED BATTRIES AND BACK TO NORMAL. BIG BROTHER AND HIS CAMERAS ARE THERE FOR A GOOD REASON NOT JUST TO GIVE YOU A TICKET.[sm=chairshot.gif] [sm=rant.gif]

Please don't judge me when you don't know me. I don't habitually run red lights. I'm not irate...I just don't believe it's right for an arbitrary device to be used to give out $100 tickets, that the camera installers get $36 out of. Not to mention the ticket you may get when you get stuck in one intersection because everybody locked 'em up on the yellow at the next intersection a block away because they were scared of the camera! Around here the potential for increased rear-end collisions is greatly magnified with the camera. There is a signal light on damn near every block - and they aren't synchronized very well. People get "hung out" in them all the time. VW and Dodge - if you don't live here, you don't know how traffic and intersections are set up, and you don't have an answer for what I asked in the post.....SO - your comment was not needed!

Again - where do I find what I asked for? Surely someone has heard of these........

Read the original post....doesnt say anything about being caught in intersection? Just wants to cover license plates cause he HATES BIG BROTHER...cmon, maybe you should read all the information before u post also. I don't think you actually understand how these lights work, If your caught in intersection its not running a red light, the camera knows this because it records light activity while filming, if you coast across those pretty white lines on the road after the light turns red well then its your own damn fault, you just ran a red light....sorry for all those others on here reading this, just irks me when people try to justify their ignorance

Ok, now before you get all bent out of shape why dont you read all the posts. His comment about being caught in the middle of the intersection was about 5 posts down. So now who has egg on their face. Just kidding, but I just dont like being told I did not read all the posts before I quoted.

If you can't stop at an intersection, take the bus.

Read the post yourself-I bolded it for ya:
Missing the point here, anyone out there ever get a ticket for being caught in intersection, seen people caught many times in intersection, crossed intersection when light was green and traffic was moving, beyond your control if it all comes to a stop, because light 1 block away turned red, someone stopped to let someone turn, someone trying to turn left on a side street, hell i have seen cops stopped in intersections it just doesnt happen that way.

No egg on face here, he said the ticket u MAY get, easiest way to aviod any ticket is use your own judgement and pay attention to the road, not spray something on your plates to defy the laws set in place to protect u and others, thats just irresponsible

Wow awesome posts here I laughed my *** off at all the people jumping to conclusions. Just remember for every camera you put up America gets that much smaller. I think there are enough cameras in the world without adding more. I suppose there is data supporting pros and cons of cameras but Im not for them.

Here is a automatic 12v license plate retractor if your that worried about covering your plate. http://www.stylinconcepts.com/parts....tfamilyid/1485

I have never seen so many people with so little to do.... I take it there wasn't anything good on
TV ??? This is like watching the media rip up the presidents speach word for word.... It does not matter how deffensive you drive someone is always going to screw up and hit you. Case in point I was first in line, the van stopped behind me, to bad the Ford Focus going 45mph didn't. She hit both of us. If you try and leave enough room between you and the car in front of you, guaranteed two cars will pull in front of you. Bamory you make these cameras sound like they have a "brain"( I don't think you actually understand how these lights work, If your caught in intersection its not running a red light, the camera knows this because it records light activity while filming) However, when the alderman of your city get "sold" on the income (65%) on this lovely little progam, that is not what they are told happens. the company that installs the cameras receives 35% of the income. I wonder why they push this program????? It's not because they are pushing safety! they want the MONEY!!!!!!! livinginh you can be the queen or king of the road, and STILL get stuck in traffic in this city. It's not that someone running a red light should not do so, it's not that it's not dangerous or that it does not cause accidents. The problem is that MODOT does not have the lights working together and they are at every block, and traffic congestion is just awful. Then you get people who don't drive the speed limit backing traffic up. People are only going to get more frustrated and angry when you start putting in cameras that are going to monitor traffic and mail out tickets to the owners of vehicles (and it may not be they who is driving) caught in intersections when the light turns red. Now we can add people slamming on their breaks to make sure they are not caught by the camera to the mix (a few more accidents that wouldn't have happened had they not been there) We as a people are giving up everything for money. Our freedoms are not freedoms anymore (licenses), we don't and can't own anything free and clear (taxes). We have to pay to do everything anymore. Now how about that for food for thought!?!

Driving is not a gauranteed freedom, sorry man, its a privalege. With that kind of thinking how about letting me just get in a Semi and transport some biohazard waste in the middle of the town? Why not? Its my freedom. Taxes are just part of life man, when they become excessive and unreasonable then we'll do something about it. However, some accountability needs to stepped up though on some of the unessessarry(<-sp?) items. Guys I'm sorry about your towns light situation (we had that problem up in my home town in North Dakota) The lights were fine for us when traffic was less dense but then the population started to rise and created a mess. Is that ya'lls situation? We got it resolved finally but it took a while. And they put in the red light cameras as well.

True but the whole world revolves around selling cars and selling fuel. Best not take that so called privalege away from too many. Think of all the lost tax money..

Maybe next time you go before the judge and beg for your license after a DUI you can tell him how you not driving will effect - lost tolls on the highway - lost gas taxes on the fuel for your town - lost money for shell (who made 9 billion in profits last year by raping us drivers) - lost money for the dealership you were going to buy you new car at next week - lost money for the poor hungry auto worker who was going to help build your car - lost money for all the 3rd world people who supply the parts to make your car... and without your car you cant rush to the mall as quick and buy things when you see a sale. so somebody is going to lose money while you waste time walking. Mcdonalds will be effected too along with the car wash you clean your car at... the list is endless. The car is only a vessel for for helping you spend money faster.

America is built around the auto lets just face it. Maybe the guy who made the driving is a privalege rule said that to someone in the 1900's when he was pissed off he still had to ride his horse and everyone else was buying cars...

Anyhow I fully agree with the above poster who said its all about them getting more money. Its true. And its very sad.

#1: and the most important item is I don't drink and drive. Done with that sentence.

The rest of the items: I don't do tolls, I go around them (legally). There's enough people already driving to pay taxes to take care of my 1/10000000000000000000000000000000000000000th contribution. Screw Shell gas their expensive so I use QuikTrip. I don't buy new cars. Whats the point of buying new when as soon as you drive off the lot, the car already has depreciated a ton? The guy who does my repairs isn't poor he has a steady business. The 3rd world people make the parts so dealerships can supply them to us. Mall schmall, I haven't been to one in months and I definetly don't rush to them. I wash my own car I don't let other people do it and I don't eat at places that iron their burgers. And if you need to get somewhere there are taxis, trains, scooters, skates, skateboards, run, jog, bike, blah, blah and blah; and don't forget your bus token!!

Now my question for everone who can't stand the red-light-cameras is this....If you are the mayor, or on the city council and your town is having a problem with people constantly running red lights at certain intersections and there are sometimes accidents and I hate to say it but, someone perishes; what the hell would you do?

Nice replys... hehe

If I was the mayor huh?

Well since I dont like cameras I would do what europe does when there is alot of deaths in a area. They put in a traffic circle. You have to slow down to enter and if your going to hit someone you will be going alot slower. If you guys have never used a traffic circle you should know they rock. Thats what I would do.

In america when you run the red you have a nice stretch to accelerate down - thus you are going through the middle of the intersection at a high rate of speed. In my circle you cant attain anywhere near the speed. I use a few circles each morning on my way to work and love them. Instead of sitting at a light I just slow down and take my turn. It saves time and saves fuel.
