Default Suspension Questions

I have a 1/2 ton with Monroe gas magnum shocks all around and a two inch coil spring spacer in the front. I would like to upgrade and get some better shocks. Just stiffer ones that ride better. I would also like to replace the coil springs. Is it possible to put a strut assembly on the front? Thanks!

Anything is possible, question becomes, why would you want to? I am going to take a wild guess, and suggest you have a 2wd?

For shocks, lots of folks like the Bilstein 5100's. They give a nice ride.

Nope, it is 4wd. I need to replace the shocks at least because ive had them for a while now. The gas magnums are the basic ones that autozone had it the computer. I just want some that give a little bit better ride. If shocks would even help....

If the rest of the suspension is in good shape, the bilsteins will make quite a bit of difference. Bear in mind though, it IS a truck, and it isn't always going to ride like a Cadillac. 500-700 pounds in the bed makes it ride better too.... but, does a number on fuel economy.

How many miles on your truck?

(and, Just for Gary....) What color is it?

With that kind of mileage, I would have a close look at all the various linkages, and bushings as well.

Thanks for having a sense of humor.

Anyone have the part numbers for the Bilstein 5100 series shocks for a 96 Ram 1500 4x4 raised 2" front and rear? I went with some cheap Rough Country shocks a few years ago (it's what I could afford at the time). They work ok (they're not bad), but I put some Bilstein 5100's on my lifted Jeep TJ and could really tell a difference. I figure some Bilstein 5100's might make the truck ride a little nicer.
