Default Splitting the transfer Case

When i have the transfer case out to do the trans and transfercase seals i want to re-rtv the t-case halves. my question is can you crack the t-case without having anything move? is it as simple as undo the exterior bolts break case in hlaf re-rtv then reseal? or once i crack it in half springs come out flying and sh**

There aren't things that will let loose, however, there are things to keep track of such that it's not a "unbolt, lift, clean, apply rtv, rebolt, etc."

that is very helpful thank you. it doesn't look like the photos in that link had any rtv sealant on the case halves, is there no need?

A link to page two is at the bottom of the page. The transfer case would leak if there wasn't any sealant.
