I have a 2001 2500 that came from the factory with manual mirrors but is pre wired for remote mirrors, can I install power mirrors and the control switch to make them operate?

 

i dont see why not. probably want to grab the service (free download) manual from the diy section and take a look and the wiring schematics.

Is the wiring there to the door also? Or just going to the mirrors.

 

Yes it has power windows and locks.

 

Then the harness for the mirrors is probably already in the door. Better have a look for it though. If not, I think it is a simple plug and play operation to install it. Even if you have to change the entire door harness, it isn't that bad of a job. Just watch the metal edges, they are sharp.

 

Yep, add the switch and you're good to go. In fact if you change the hvac panel to the one with the mirror heat switch, that will work too. I did the same thing on my 2001 with manual tow mirrors. It was all plug and play.
