Default Revving issue with trans.

I have a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 5.2l automatic. This is what I have done to it within the past two weeks and the problem started today. My rear driveshaft had a bad u joint so I took the driveshaft out and reinstalled. No fluid came out of the t case. I tried to do a t case fluid change Allen key bolts are stripped so I didn't do it. Since it's getting cold up here I switched my thermostat to a 195 since the 180 wasn't getting the heat hot enough. So I removed the accessory bracket and other parts to get to the water outlet. A fuel injector was also replaced as one of the new set I purchased leaked down.

The symptoms between 2-3 gear if I press the gas to fast it will rev past 4k unless I release and re press the gas. First gear is also reving higher at around 2.5k. Normal rpm range is 1.2k when maintaining a speed above 40mph. Wondering what u guys think. Transmission will eventually catch but it's pretty jumpy. I checked the trans fluid it is where it should be. Could low t case fluid be the cause? My trans pan has been leaky since I bought the truck I've replaced it a few times but I gave up. It normally takes a half quart every month.

Thanks for the help.

Be sure and check fluid level in neutral. Checking in park will give you an artificially high reading.

Sounds like time to adjust the bands.

+1 HeyYou. I just finished replacing my front band. Completely shot due to improper TV adjustment. I got the replacement slip-in from Whatever It Takes transmissions. Great part and works like a charm. Good luck,Greg.
PS When ya drop the VB you're gonna hate that parking rod, I do. I'd love to give the guy who designed it a piece of my mind, what I got left anyway.

Band anchor was in pan and it was cracked so I'm going to get another from the dealer and put it in. That should fix my problem I think.

Well I popped in the new band anchor trucks shifts smooth now. And I got an mpg boost of .5mpg. Also tightened my bands now reverse doesn't pop like before never realized the difference or how important those adjustments are.
