guess I'll get the gasket set, hopefully I'll be able to accomplish this. should be easy since i have a standard trans and can put it in gear to get the nut off the dampner. god knows where i will get the time and money for this...plus i have no clue where to get that o ring for the heater hose on the pump

advanced and autozone only sell big kits, and the o ring is usually too mangled to compare once its out, in my experience at least

They don't have loose O-rings? Odd. Another place to try would be a hardware store. They won't be able to tell you which O-ring you need but might just have it anyway.

Something that will up your odds of getting the O-ring out intact is to shoot some silicone lubricant, or even WD-40 if that's all you've got, down around the pipe an hour or two before you start the job. Then the trick is to pull that sucker straight out. Twisting is okay but don't rock the pipe unless you absolutely must, and expect the O-ring to get distorted if you're both pulling and rocking at the same time. If it still comes out mangled just take the pipe with you to whatever place you've found that sells loose O-rings and get one that goes on snugly without much stretching and has about the right outside diameter.

I'll give it a shot. what i might end up doing is just removing the rubber hose on the metal part. if the water pump isn't getting replaced why bother even taking the tube out? lol I'm having my girlfriend's dad look at it over thanksgiving break, great mechanic. see what he thinks before i go out buying anything
