Default spark knock due to spark plug wire routing?

I've been having trouble with what i think is a spark knock. i was thinking is it possible the wire routing is causing it? didn't rewire according to TSB, but the problem just came on all of a sudden after i did the wires, but a couple months after they were replaced. it's only acting up under heavy load (lugging up a long steep hill in high gear). Thanks

You should read https://dodgeforum.com/forum/2nd-gen...um-thread.html

If you haven't addressed this yet it may be time. If the wires are routed correctly as the TSB shows then they *shouldn't* be the problem.

that thread doesn't say, will the blown gasket Cause misfire? if I'm on the throttle wide open long enough on a hill it feels like the time 3 of my plug wires popped off the Distributer

Yeah, blown plenum will tend to lean the fuel mixture, and on hard acceleration, or, large throttle openings, for whatever reason, the PCM drops into open loop, and just runs off of tables for how much fuel it feeds. If the plenum is a large enough vacuum leak, it can lean out the mixture in the cylinders close to where it is leaking, giving you some spark knock.

Depending on the quality of your plug wires, wire routing can indeed cause issues.
