Exclamation 98 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Trans shifting problem

No Transmission Codes Have reverse 1st and 2nd, will not go to 3rd or overdrive. Cascade recommended putting in the solenoid kit. $250.00 later same thing! Also adjusted bands and nothing. I haven't pushed it as its been sitting awhile like 6yrs, so not sure if I get it past 55 if it will shift into 3rd. A little help Please.

Welcome to DF! Going to move this to the second gen ram section for ya.

Could try some of this stuff, and see if it cleans things up at all. Wouldn't surprise me if it weren't just some sticky valves and such.

Might have an output speed sensor issue too...... if you can read live data, may not hurt to have a look see.

The speed sensor came with the kit that I replaced. So you believe it may be a sticky valve. I put some Trans lube in it also. Have only driven it approx. 30 miles so far since I got it running.

After sitting for six years it's quite possible that your valve body is gunked up. If you're up to the job, drop that sucker and clean it thoroughly. Then, whether that clears up the problem or not, do a full pressure test as outlined in the factory service manual. Especially if it clears up the problem, in fact. You don't want an expensive surprise later on.
