Default crank position sensor!!!!

2000 ram 1500 5.9 v8 laramie
So im on my third (u pull) tranny and demolished the cps. I got a new one (used, new to me)after few weeks and installed and running really rough and backfireing. Do i have to find tdc when installing? Or is there something im missing? My code seys cam position sensor all of a sudden. I turned my fly wheel during install of tranny so thinking it could be out of alignment or something. Any help is great thanks!

Probably just got another bad sensor. There is no calibration you can do for it. It either works, or it don't..... (and has some truly bizarre failure modes.)

Get a new one from the dealer. These trucks don't particularly care for the aftermarket sensors.
