2500 Transmission Shifting Issues
Hey everyone,
My name is Rey and this is my first tech post. I sold my Dakota and just bought a 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 V10. I've been reading a ton about this issue and I have a couple of questions.
Q1: The TV cable can be adjusted for softer, earlier shifts to harder, later shifts correct?
When I first got it, it would shift at about 4500 rpm. I took it to a local Transmission shop to have the fluid changed and on the initial test drive, they noticed the late shifting.
They adjusted the TV cable and now 1st to 2nd shifts at about 2500 rpm (a hard shift), but then it almost immediately shifts to third (a very soft shift). This is under light to medium throttle.
So the TV cable adjustment changed the behavior, but it still doesn't seem right.
There are no codes thrown, but have people changed the solenoids without codes and seen improvement?

Hhhhmmm.... You could try adjusting the TV cable a bit more. (pulling it out will give you later, firmer shifts, pushing it in will give you earlier, softer shifts) See if that makes any difference. If you can't get it where you like it with the cable, swap out the governor pressure sensor/solenoid, they can be inaccurate, and not set a code.
