Depends on how much you pay for the used diff's. Then add 8 bolt wheels, gears and lockers. Any other parts needed to bring the used diff's up to snuff.

$1500 I think is what I have into my swap, no gear swap or lockers.

Axle swap, in most cases, is far from financially worth it if it's mostly a street truck / light off road duty rig. Factor in the likely need to rebuild those axles from end to end + new rims and different sized tires = $$ vs. a gear swap on stock diff's. No you will not destroy front end parts in a matter of months with larger tires provided you don't drive like a tool. If you are a hardcore offroader then you could probably appreciate the benefits of upgrading

The much better brakes, the less parts and labour I am doing/spending alone has made going to the 60's well worth it in my op. I don't drive like a tool, 15 years with no tickets or accidents.

Ehhh. Almost everything we do to these approaching 20 year old trucks is not financially worth it.

How true. Upgrading these older trucks is primarily a labor of love and makes the truck into something fully useful for your needs. The costs vs. the benefits is something that each person must determine for themselves.

It may end up being cheaper just to buy a 3/4 ton truck, and start working on it instead....

I will keep putting money into my old girl. I want nothing to do with the new luxury trucks (truck should be used lightly here) built these days.
