99 3500 swap dually to single
Anybody know what is involved in swapping dually axle to single wheels and removing fenders?
I just recently acquired this truck and I'm not too big on the dually part.
Any help would be great.
It's a 6 cyl Cummins diesel & ex-cab if it matters. I think it's 2WD
Thanks - RC

Sell the truck...I'll bet anything that there's someone willing to buy it, as long as it's in decent shape. A 2wd Turbo diesel with duals is an EXCELLENT tow rig. You should have no problem selling a turbo diesel truck. Then you can buy something you really want.
As far as converting it, you'd need a box (the fenders are extremely hard to remove), front axle, rear axle, and a new set of rims. You need to replace both axles because dually axles have a different lug pattern than standard HD axles. You could leave the dual wheel axle on there, and only put one wheel on. I've seen it done. But it's ugly as hell, and there will be a fairly large stub sticking out of the axle. It's also harder to get tires with a decent width on there.
