Hello all,

I have a 2001 Ram that already had power locks but no keyless entry. I have an older security system lying around that I am going to be installing in the truck. It's the older version of this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...4000RS-2W.html

I don't plan to install the shock sensor or siren as I find aftermarket security systems are typically too sensitive and exceptionally loud. I am only interested in the remote start and keyless entry.

Here are a few questions I have before getting started.

1. Where can I get a simple wiring diagram for the truck? I have the service manual but it's a bit complicated for me. If someone has a simplified version that would be great.

2. I've read a bunch of stuff about the door lock wiring being weird. The system I have has positive and a negative door input wires. Will I be able to install this is a simple way or is there something different about it with our trucks?

Here is a quote from a professional about the locks in these trucks:
"Oh yes- many times, the locks are 5 wire (I've done 5 wire lock wiring videos too)
POWER DOOR LOCK ORANGE/PURPLE In White Connector In Driver’s Kick Panel Coming From Driver’s Door
Notes: Door locks are reverse polarity.
POWER DOOR UNLOCK PINK/PURPLE"

I have a green wire (negative door input according to the manual) and a violet wire (positive door input according to the manual)...so which goes where?

3. Lastly, is there anything else I should know before embarking on this installation that's special to this application?
