Default Sorry to say Goodbye!!

I hate to say it guys but tonight I'm signing the papers to sell my truck to Carmax. It has been a great truck but it has just been costing me too much lately in repairs and I know of more that it needs, plus it gets ****tty gas mileage. If everything goes as planned I'll be buying an F-250 turbo diesel from a guy in Alabama in 2 weeks. Even though I won't own a Dodge anymore I'll still be a Dodge fan at heart. I'll still stay around and throw my two cents in every once in a while.

WHAT? WTF! ok, I hear you on the repairs and the milage... what kinda milage are you expecting out of the Ford? my brother has a 2000 PSTD and gets 15 out of it, his problem is he's got 35"s with stock gearing. prevously he was getting 17's on stock tires.

I've been pushing to get 15 mpg outa my truck and i'm on the verge of getting it (I hope). I'm now averaging 14 mpg and will be doing a couple of more mods to hopefully bring it over the 15 mpg mark... For those interested... I'll be posting on the newer mods when they are installed... and I'll be doing a before & after mpg test to verify mpg increases (including the wait for the re-learn to complete... OBDII).

the truck gets 16 mph in the city and 21 on the highway, its got a 5.5in lift, 35's, chrome wheels, 100hp chip, 4in exhaust, and an intake, and a bunch of other little stuff. He said that its probably putting 400hp at the whees and 600lb-ft of torque at the wheels. Thats a lot better than the Dodge could ever dream of. My truck gets 10.5mph in the city and 12 on the hwy.

sorry to see you go. I think you'll find the power lacking though.

Well I don't want to sound rude because you are getting rid of your dodge but the mileage and power #s sound like a bunch of BS to me. I would not believe the mileage at all especially with the 35's. I have friends who are Ford Powerstroke diehards and none of them have ever got that kind of mileage with stock tires. Usually the best they have ever got on the highway is 17mpg if they are lucky.

The other thing is I would want to see a dyno chart for the truck. If that truck is putting out 400rwhp then it should be at least 800rwtq. Here is a link showing dyno #s for all three brands. I would say the guy has no clue what the power #s are.

One last thing to consider is the price of diesel compared to gas in your area. In my area diesel is about $.80 per gallon higher right. Thats not going to save you money. But you should have a lot more power than the 360 ever had. Theres no doubt about that.

My last remark is why didn't you go with a Dodge Cummins?

Good luck with the Furd. Hopefully you have more luck than my last employeer did. My dad works for a guy who only runs power stokes and he has been left stranded by them 3 or 4 times in the past year. The good ol dodges ain't done that yet.

About the power #'s he was just guesssing based on what was done to the truck, and my dad used to have a 2000 F-250 manual that we calculated it got 23mph on the highway, this truck is also a manual. Also around here the price of diesel fuel is a little higher than gas but not that much. Ever since Ford came out with the Superduties I have always wanted one but couldn't afford it until now. Does anybody know of any good forums for Ford Diesels?

stop back by and drop a pic of the new truck for us...

my brothers truck is a stump puller... tons of power and torque, he hauls a 25' boat with ease.
