Skip the chip, unless you are referring to a real tuner. Chips do nothing.

Harland sharp 1.7 roller rockers, long tube headers, and a free flowing exhaust. Make sure you fix all of its issues first though. (plenum..... tune up, etc.)

First do a search and read. Next spend a few dollars and do some more reading.

Here are 3 books to get you started. They have a lot of good info in them.

Also follow the link in my sig on rebuilding my engine for ideas.

Biggest bang for the bucks are to stroke the 5.9 motor to 408 cubic inches with a stroker kit, in addition to adding better flowing cylinder heads and intake. Stroker kit typically consists of a stroker crank, new rods, pistons rings, along with main and rod bearings.

One of the best Magnum v8 books if you are just doing a stock rebuild.

+1... Larry Shepard writes a good easy to follow book.
And yes, he lived LA and Magnum engines since 1966... was part of the corporate drag racing program for 14yrs, then went to Mopar Performance for 21yrs.
Larry has over 35yrs of his working life on these engines.
