Timing Chain Problems

Timing Chain Problems
So I got the Mopar chain and tensioner for my truck. I aligned my old timing set before taking it off and replacing it and it was aligned at 6 o'clock on the top gear and 12 o'clock on the cam gear. I installed the tensioner and the chain and the top gear sat at 6 o'clock but my cam gear is more at like 1 o'clock. Still fine?
Next problem, when I installed the timing chain cover it bent the tensioner pin back and broke it loose from itself. Is it designed to do this? Should I just move it back to where it was and re-pinch it or get a whole new tensioner?

First what are you calling the Top gear? The small lower gear is the crank sprocket, the large gear on top is the Cam sprocket.
Did you put the motor at top dead center? If so is it TDC cylinder 1 or 6?
TDC cyl 1 should be both gears 12 oclock
TDC cyl 6 should be cam at 6 oclock and Crank at 12 oclock.
If it was at 12 when it came off you should put it back to 12 where it was.
That little metal pin on the tensioner is only for installation. Remove once the chain is installed, rotate engine and make sure they line back up when it comes back around.
Take a picture of your marks so we can see where you set it.

I put it at TDC cyl 6, cams at 6 oclock and Crank is at 12 oclock. The crank sprocket will never line up with the cam sprocket. The crank sprocket is keyed in thirds so that you can go tdc, +4, -4. The new timing chain is not lining up like the old one did.
Thanks for the help on the spring.

You have a three way gear set. The way it is currently set up, I don't think is gonna work well. Make sure you are using the correct "dots" on both gears.
The pin (curly thing) gets removed before you install the timing cover. That pin just holds the 'arm' back, to make installing the timing set easier. Pull the pin, and spring tension holds the shoe against the chain. Thus, putting some tension on it.
