Default t case video is it bad?

First off not sure how to post a video, will try from photo bucket but not sure if it will work.If not does anyone have an idea on how I do so? I bought this 2nd gen cummins that needed some work. The front driveshaft was in the bed of the truck. But we engaged the 4 wheel drive I laid beside the truck & my buddy moved forward and I saw spin.for some reason the light did not pop on. The owner said the previous ownertold him that the drive shaft went bad on him one day so he took it off and threw it in the bed of his truck.
I was able to reach the previous owner luckily I did because there was a title issue but anyway he informed me that what the guy told me was true and also the drive shaft went bad on another occasion. He said he thought maybe the front yoke was bad. The truck was from Minnesota so I'm sure the t case got work quite a lot. When we rebuilt the front drive shaft the fella who is helping me said hey check this out and he spun where the drive shaft boltS up to the tcase&spun it and you could hear a lot of chain slap.
I'm wondering if this is the cause of the failed drive shaftswhich I do not believe because he had the driveshaft kind of jerry rigged anyways we decided to leave it I'm hooked but this 241 DHD is expensive and hard to find around my parts. I want to figure out how to get this video Up here because I have never had to spin a t Case before so I do not know if this is actually bad or normal?
if its bad I'll either rebuild it or buy another one but maybe this is normal so if you guys can take a look if I can figure out how to get this video up I would greatly appreciate it thanks.

Clicking on the picture took me to your photobucket site, and the video played just fine.

That said, that sounds HORRID. I think before I did much more driving with that, I would drop the t-case, and rip it apart, and see what kind of rudeness you find. It might just be a 'simple' rebuild. (including a new chain) Or, it might not. Rebuild is generally cheaper than another t-case though. And, since it hasn't blown up yet, it likely IS still rebuildable.

If your truck was like mine when I got it, were the previous owner did little or nothing to take care of it, then you will be spending a lot of money to get it back into good running condition.

On my 2000 dodge ram I have completely restored the interior, that included replacing the carpet, replacing missing cup holders, replacing broken glove box door, replacing broken dash trim around the gauge cluster, replacing broken light switch in over head console, replacing the rubber door seals, replacing power window switches in both doors.

I have also had new shocks installed, new brakes front and rear, with new calipers up front, new tie rods, new track bar, new sway bar bushings.
The ball joints, hubs, and steering box will be replaced soon.

I have close to $2000 dollars into the truck so far, and I havn`t even started on the engine or transmission yet.

My truck was opposite. It was maintained pretty well by the PO and was even garage kept. The original floor mats came with it and they were barely even dirty! I was blown away (even had paperwork of prior service/repairs at the dealer).

However; that excellent care hasn't stopped it from: Cracked cylinder head, rear axle rebuild, 2 waterpumps, front axle seals and u-joints, shocks, air conditioning compressor, plenum repair, new headlight assemblies, oil pan gasket, timing chain set, harmonic dampener, fan clutch, radiator (side gasket blew)... and these are only the things that I think should have lasted longer than they did. The other "service items" I'm leaving off the list (sensors, balljoints, etc). Now, I need a new heater core and my dash is cracked.

I'm not adding up my receipts, but I'd guess over $5k including labor for the big jobs.

In other words.. I think you got away lucky.

Fortunately, I bought a 4yr Ford extended warranty on it when I bought it used with 86k. Even let me service it at a Chrysler dealership. That didn't stop me from getting a botched rear axle rebuild and A/c compressor replacement though....

OP, try http://www.car-part.com and search for a tcase there. Should pull up hits from yards near you with ph#'s. Call them before going to make sure they still have it and if you can get info on the unit. Ask about what warranty it comes with. Don't buy one without a warranty if you can help it (even a month should give you time to try it out and verify function).

Phew... long post.
