98 1500 2wd brake upgrade
Hey, i want to get better braking out of my truck. Its a 98 ram 1500 2wd, reg cab short box, 5.9. It doesnt have the 4 wheel abs just the rwal. Ive heard about the wheel cylinder upgrade, should i get wheel cylinders from a 98 dodge 1 ton, or 98 chevy 3500 dually? Is this a direct swap? Also ive heard about swapping a 3/4 ton master cylinder into my 1/2 ton. Is that a direct swap? Will it benefit my truck any with stock 1/2 ton front brakes and upgraded wheel cylinders? Thanks
I've heard of 3/4 ton light duty calipers on 4x4's. Do they work for 2wd as well?
Are slotted and drilled rotors any better than regular ones?
I'm also planning stainless steel braided brake lines for the front and a good set of pads
Wheel cylinders: Yep.
Calipers: I am not sure on a 2wd....... bring one of yours with you when you look at 'em, and have a tape measure handy.
Rotors: Nope. Don't waste your money. Stock replacements are just fine.
Lines: Get the SS line for the rear as well. Firms up the pedal quite nicely. Also, make sure you adjust your rears, the stock auto-adjusters don't work as well as they should.
