Default ECU and harness problems

hello to all! I am new to this site in fact I have never owned a dodge before I have always had a Silverado. but I picked up a 1994 1500 with a 5 speed trans and is 2wd. It originally came with the 6 but I decided that it was not enough so I picked up a clean 318. my question is do I have to run a ecu from a truck that already has a 318 and 5 speed or can I run with the stock 318 auto ECU, because I had a difficult time locating any that were specifically from a 5 speed truck. any help is greatly appreciated and everyone have a great Friday.

You *can* run one from an auto trans truck, but, as the PCM isn't going to be seeing any results of it attempting to control the trans, the CEL will constantly be on. Being as it's a 94, you can't simply reflash it either. Can you just buy one from the parts store??

Call the parts store, chat with a live, warm, human being.

You need to find one for your year with the combo you are putting in. Each PCM has a # and that will tell what it goes to. Each are per year specific. Not sure what the differences are between years with the same drive train. Do some research on line for PCM#'s. May find on on ebay or on line somewhere.

Parts books are available in the FAQ section here... wonder if PCM is listed in there??? Should be able to come up with something.

do your homework, hit a pick n pull or a junkyard and look for a ECU, Heyyou is right, your truck is gonna be confused as hell if its thinking it has an auto tranny. You might run into other issues too.
